Opening- The Beggar Kings "Let It Bleed" 50th Anniversary
The White Album Ensemble, performing "after the touring years ( 1966-1970)" Beatles music, has been a hit for 16 ears, starting at the Rio Theatre! his year mars the 50th Anniversary of "Abbey Road", the "Crown Jewel" of Beatles albums, a deliberate beautiful goodbye to the band who ruled the 60s. Another pivotal act, the Rolling Stones- also had an important smash hit recording in 1969, the tongue- in- cheek titled "Let It Bleed", poking fun at the " friendly rivalry" between Beatles and Stones, the good boy / bad boy myths.
The White Album Ensemble is Richard Bryant, Ken Kraft, Dale Ockerman, Stephen Krilanovich, Omar Spence, Endre Tarczy, and Trey Sabatelli. These musicians have played with Doobie Brothers, Moby Grape, Quicksilver, Snail,The Tubes, Todd Rundgren and many more. Enhancing the core group will be a string quartet and horn section, to fill the orchestral sound of the album, without sampling or synthesized instruments.
The Beggar Kings are a Santa Cruz band whos first gig was at the Rio, in 2015, and have remained faithful to capturing the vibe of the golden era of Stones creative output, and the 50th birthday of “Let it Bleed”, which culminated in local performances in December 1969 at Oakland Colisseum, and at Altamont, the “Anti- Woodstock”. Should be an interesting mock historical concert of the titans of the “British Invasion”, to perform their top shelf material, for you, in 2019!
