Quench your thirst for all things ocean related at the 2022 Ocean Film Festival World Tour. This sublime collection of short ocean themed films will take you to the depths of the ocean, up close with tiger sharks and sea lions and surfing the monster waves of Nazaré in Portugal. Audiences will be able to immerse themselves in the wonders of the world’s oceans without getting their feet wet as the Ocean Film Festival World Tour makes a splash at the Rio Theatre.

Now in its 9th edition the Ocean Film Festival originated in Australia and travels the globe uniting a community of passionate ocean lovers. This carefully curated selection of short films document the beauty and power of the ocean, and celebrate the divers, surfers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray; who chase the crests of waves; and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue. The 2022 Ocean Film Festival World Tour will provide a welcome relief and aquatic inspiration for every kind of ocean lover.

EYRE & SEA
On the edge of the Great Australian Bight, a wild place where vast desert spills into roaring ocean, weather is king. A pristine environment supporting a unique array of wildlife, including the endangered Australian sea lion.
Here, in a town with a population of 3, lives Alan. In a life shaped around the natural world, an unlikely relationship with a colony of pinnipeds has fundamentally changed him.

IF YOU GIVE A BEACH A BOTTLE
Inspired by a picture book, Max Romey heads to a remote beach on Alaska's coastline in search of marine debris. What he finds is a different story altogether.

WAVE OF CHANGE
“Nomade des Mers,” a catamaran currently sailing around the world in search of low-tech innovation, pioneering the development of sustainable and affordable technologies.  Captained by Corentin de Chatelperron from the film Gold of Bengal, Wave of Changedocuments his ongoing quest for a sustainable life and a life at sea. This low-tech surfing adventure shares a unique way to chase waves with minimal impact.

TIGER (SHARK) KING
More than 20 years ago conservationist and diver, Jim Abernethy, discovered the "affectionate" side of large predatory sharks after removing a fishing hook from the jaws of a tiger shark. Since then he has removed thousands of hooks from sharks in the warm, clear waters off the Bahamas and has brought divers to safely encounter these apex predators with the goal of destigmatising sharks as mindless killers.

DANI BURT
For the first few days after she awoke from her coma, Dani Burt didn't know her right leg, from just above the knee down, was gone. When the doctors finally told her the full extent of her injuries, Burt, an active, hungry-for-life person, wasn't sure if she could go on. But she found the courage to continue through surfing, which led her on a path to becoming the first-ever women's World Adaptive Surfing champion. Don't miss this inspirational story by award-winning filmmaker, Brian Olliver.

I AM OCEAN
A photographer diagnosed with a terminal illness finds refuge, recovery and a renewed lease on life through her connection with the ocean.

MAR (custom tour edit)
Big Wave Surfer Alex Botelho lives in a corner of the world that has a very direct connection to the ocean. We go on a journey to discover what drives him into the world's biggest waves and how he remains true to his roots.
